The San Ramon home and the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés yesterday signed an interagency agreement to provide care and support to older adults for five years.
The dean of the Faculty, Heriberto Cuevas said that the document states that students in the last two years of the careers of Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition and Medical Technology provide ongoing medical care for the elderly, according to their specialty. "In addition, students in attendance, will be advised by their teachers," he said.
The authority also added that the university, according to their specialty, will provide physical therapy elderly, advice on diet to be followed and counseling, among others. "With the agreement, which we want the seniors to have a comprehensive care so they can live better," said Cuevas.
The Faculty is 4,800 students, of which 800 attend to the elderly. The signing took place to coincide with Father's Day. In the event, the Mayor of La Paz also provided a microwave at home. "We thank the university for support and provide free care to the elderly," said the Mother Superior of the home, Carmen Laguna.
