Organization.
Board The Board is the national college of the University. Consists of six people, two of they are designated by the Academic Council from among the members of the University that invests the highest academic levels, two of the same Council elects from among persons who hold a university degree and are not engaged at the time of their election offices or functions within of this University, and the final two are appointed by the President. The members appointed by the Academic Council spend two years in office and those appointed by the President of the Republic, as have their confidence. Members

Some of the powers of the Board are:
• To adopt its own Rules of Procedure.
• Approve the proposal of the Rector and the Academic Council on the report, the regulation contains the Organizational Structure of the University and also the amendments to be introduced.
• Propose to the President of the Republic of the three candidates for the appointment of the Rector, and their removal, if it has the support of two thirds of its members in exercises and probable cause. • Set policy
University development plans and medium and long term, for their implementation.
• Approving the annual budget of the University and its amendments, a proposal of the Rector.
• Approve the appointment of Pro-Rector, the Secretary General and the Deans, on proposal of the Rector.
• Designate the Comptroller of the University and decide on its removal, only if adopted by two-thirds of the members in office of the Board.
• All other functions, powers and duties that specifically relate to the Board, as the Statute of the University of Valparaiso.
Academic Council The Academic Council is the advisory body to the Rector. Consists of the Rector, who will preside, for the deans of the faculties and members of the highest academic levels, designated by the Board. A regulation adopted by the Board determines the number, duration and procedure for nomination of the latter members.

The powers of the Academic Council are:
• Act as an advisory body of the President when requested and to propose any initiative it considers useful for the proper functioning of the university.
• establish its own Rules of Procedure concerning its operation.
• Appoint four members of the Board.
• Require the Faculty Council information relating to their operation or make comments and recommendations. Be transcribed the comments and recommendations to the appropriate Dean. • Present to Rector
a list of scholars qualified to have them present it to the end of appointment of senior university.

Faculty Council Faculty Council is the advisory body to the Dean. Comprises the respective Dean, who will preside; by the Secretary of the School respectively, which is his minister of Fe by the directors of Schools and Institutes dependent on the same faculty, and teachers in each school and vested in the Institute higher academic levels, designated by the Board. A regulation issued by the Rector determines the number, time and procedure for nomination of the latter members.
Some of the powers of the Faculty are:
• Act as an advisory body of the respective Dean in all matters within the department and propose initiatives it considers useful for the running of it.
• Act as advisory body to the Chancellor on all matters within the Faculty, but only in cases where it specifically requires. • Develop programming
of teaching, research and extension to develop the Faculty, according to University policy.
• Propose to the Chancellor, through the Dean, the appointment of professors of the Faculty and members of the Review Boards of degrees and diplomas, according to regulations.
• Propose to the Rector, the Dean through the creation, deletion and reorganization of the structures of the Faculty.
• Propose to the Chancellor, through the Dean, the curriculum of the schools or institutes of the Faculty.
• Approve, on proposal of the Dean, curricula and programs for the granting of the degrees of Doctor or Master in their respective specialties.
• Present to Rector, through the Dean, a report on the operation of the Faculty at the end the school year
• Exercise such other functions and duties prescribed regulations that do not fit in particular to another university authority.
